The Framework is finally done.....

You would notice that in my earlier post i had vented my frustration over not being able to get anything to show.....

Just figured out why that happened...
Because while I was so bothered about making the framework user-friendly, I completely forgot to pass the Direct X device onto the draw function....

But anyway, the framework runs like a gem now!

This is a little experiment i tried with Flash(ActionScript 3.0) and the Free-Spin 3D plugin. It's a little 2.5D game called M.A.C.H where u play a member of the elite M.A.C.H squad and are on a mission....

Grrrr....

This is frustrating...Quads are still not coming up after weeks of trying....it's as if the functions aren't being executed at all!!!

Oh Happy Day!!!!!

Good progress with the framework!!!

Brought the Win 32 window up succesfully with a choice 5 different background colours, custom size, positions and 3different Window styles.

Also Direct X finally agreed to suck up it's attitude and give its powers to the window. Working on rendering quads onto the screen......Expected outtcome is for the user to be able to draw a quad on screen, giving his own co-ordinate points.

This is gonna be my first log of work on the blog.......

Working right now on a framework that will help making games a whole lot easier.....for me ateast......this framework is developed to create a basic Win 32 window, and add a dash of Direct 3D into it. The plan is to make this framework capable of creating a window and rendering stuff on the screen(this includes pictures, wireframe rectangles etc.). Also included is movementmeaning you'll be able to move these images around. I know this is not much (in fact its very little). But its a start.....The Framework hasn't been named as of yet....will give it one soon. Also there is a plan to dab a little bit in Shaders as well and some custom shading effects to the output....We'll see how it progresses!!!

Here we go!!!!

Game maker: "I'm a game developer"....
Ignorant common man: "Huh??? Whats that??"...
Game maker: "I'm part of a team that makes Video Games"....
Ignorant common man: "For a living?"...
Game maker: "Yes".....
Ignorant common man: "Well, that can't be too hard...you must be living it up with all the free time you must have, eh?"..
Game maker: "(sigh)"...

This is the standard conversation that happens between game makers and people who are not game makers....And I'm sure every game maker will have gone through such a conversation atleast once in their lives!! If you have then I'm sure you also must have felt like punching the "non game maker" in the face, and cursing him with all sorts of obscenities(hope i spelt it right) that only a gamer could come up with!!

It simply blows my mind to imagine that there are actually people out there who think that making a computer game has to be as easy as plucking a mango out of a tree!!

Well, I can rant all I want and no one is going to pay any attention to it.....so hopefully instead of going on and on about this whole wide world and how ignorant it is, I might as well put in something useful into this blog...give the world a little sneak peek into my brain when its working and show theses "noobs" as gamers call them exactly how "Easy" it is to be a game developer....

P.S--A Quick Disclaimer:
If you are in any way connected to the gaming universe you might have realized that i haven't mentioned anything about Game Designers in here....Well, I'm a Developer and hence am more likely to crib about inustices done to developers than to designers....however this in no way means that designers are any lesser than developers...I'm sure a designer would be working equally hard, if not harder, and would be equally annoyed at having a conversation like the above!!! (Being more creative people they may even comeup with a more drastic way of punishment than a punch in the jaw....so Beware!!)
